The Broadcast Engineering Society (India) {BES(I)} was established in 1987. The Society is registered with the Registrar of Societies, Delhi.

The Society is the founder member of Engineering Council of India New Delhi, which has institutions as IETE and PTC India Foundation. The Society is affiliated to the Society of Broadcast Engineers http://www.sbe.org/ The Society has friendship agreement with the Society of Cable Television Engineers & National Association of Broadcasters

The main objectives of the Society are:

  • To promote the advancement and discrimination of knowledge & practices of broadcasting in the field of Radio & TV
  • To enhance the knowledge of broadcast engineering professionals.

To meet these objectives, the Society conducts conferences, seminars, tutorials and exhibitions regularly. BES (BROADCAST ENGINEERING SOCIETY), which is an International conference and exhibition, is conducted every year, in the month of February, in New Delhi. Exhibitors, delegates and visitors from India and over 25 other countries participate in this event. Every EXPO has a theme on the current broadcast situation. BES EXPO 2007 is endorsed by the International Association of Broadcast Manufacturers (IABM) and is supported by ABU, UNESCO, Govt of India and a number of its organizations ( All India Radio, Doordarshan India, IGNOU and DIT).

The Society has headquarter at New Delhi and has 10 Local Chapters spread across the country.

The Society has over 2,000 Life Fellows/Members. 37 leading organizations in the country are its Corporate Members. The Society has awarded BES (BROADCAST ENGINEERING SOCIETY) to 17 distinguished personalities from India and abroad.

The Society brings out a quarterly technical journal, known as BES Review. The Society has brought out 7 other publications.

Society gives 9 BES (BROADCAST ENGINEERING SOCIETY) every year to individuals for their outstanding contributions in various fields of broadcasting.
