Exhibit Spaces & Fee:

Space in is available in the following categories:

  • Shell Scheme: with furniture & fixtures including one table, two chairs, four spot-lights, one plug-point, facia, one waste-paper basket and carpet for every 9 sqm space taken by exhibitors.

  • Raw Space Scheme: with marked space only. Exhibitors participating in this category are expected to arrange their own furniture and fixtures. Raw space stalls are located at corners and  are two- or three-side open.

  • Open Space: for DSNG Vans, dish antenna etc.

The standard size of a stall (booth) in the expo is 3m x 3m x 2.5m (9sqm). However, bigger stalls are also available for exclusive display by a single company details of which can be had from The Expo Coordinator.

Minimum space that can be booked by a single company in the shell scheme is 9 sqm. Space taken in different categories will be separated by a wall. Space will be allotted strictly on first-come first-served basis and is expected to fill up fast. Sharing and subletting of stalls is not permitted. Since space in the expo is limited, organisations desirous of participating in may fax or e-mail their requirement to The Expo Coordinator as soon as possible.

Participation fee is payable in full at the time of booking space by telegraphic transfer, cheque or demand draft drawn in favour of BROADCAST ENGINEERING SOCIETY (INDIA) payable at NEW DELHI. Foreign companies are required to pay fee by telegraphic transfer to A/c No. SB-10048 of Broadcast Engineering Society (India) with Corporation Bank, CGO Complex, Lodi Road, New Delhi- 110 003 under intimation to The Expo Coordinator. Advertisement & Publicity

BES EXPO 2010 will be advertised through advertisements in newspapers and magazines, personal mailers, Radio, TV and SMSs to people connected with broadcasting in India. Exhibitors can also opt for space for putting advertisement panels within and outside the exhibition hall. Details of this can be had from The Expo Coordinator. Fee for putting a 1m x 1m x 2.5m panel is Rs 12,000 (US$250) only. Panels without the permission of the Society are not permitted.

Visitors’ Profile
BES EXPO 2010 is expected to be visited by over 4,000 engineers, managers, cinematographers, consultants, entrepreneurs and policy and decision-makers from Radio and TV broadcasting organisations as well as studio and post-production units in India, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Visit to the exhibition by delegates attending the conference has always been a key feature of the exhibition.     Indian Broadcast And Scenario

    BROADCAST ENGINEERING SOCIETY (INDIA)

    Established in 1987, the Broadcast Engineering Society (India) is the largest society of broadcast professionals in India. The Society aims at promoting the cause of radio and TV broadcasting in India through lectures, seminars, conferences and exhibitions. BES EXPO, International Conference & Exhibition on Terrestrial and Satellite Broadcasting, is a step in this direction. The Society has ten local chapters located in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai,Jaipur, Thanjavur and Thiruvananthapuram. At the time of going to the press, the Society had more than 2,000 individual and 40 corporate members on its rolls.

    GROWTH OF BROADCASTING IN INDIA

    The Entertainment & Media sector in India has been growing at a steady 19% per annum. Barring a minor correction due to global slowdown, the trend is expected to continue. In a study conducted by Price Waterhouse Coopers, the total entertainment & media sector in India is expected to grow from Rs 513 billion (US$ 12.8 billion) in 2007 to Rs 1157 billion (US$ 28.9 billion ) in 2012. More specifically, TV industry in India is expected to grow from Rs 226 billion ( US$ 5.7 billion) in 2007 to Rs 600 billion (US$ 15 billion ) in 2012. During the same period, Radio industry is expected to grow from Rs 6.2 billion (US$ 0.2 billion) to Rs 18 billion (US$ 0.5 billion) and film industry from Rs. 96 billion (US$ 2.4 billion) to Rs. 176 billion (US$ 4.4 billion). The positive mood expressed in PWC's report is further emphasized by the following facts:

     

    • TV households in India are expected to increase from 115 million in 2007 to 132 million in 2012<BR>TV households in India are expected to increase from 115 million in 2007 to 132 million in 2012

    • Pay TV households are expected to increase from 74 million in 2007 to 115 million in 2012

    • Cable TV households are expected to increase from 70 million in 2007 to 90 million in 2012

    • DTH households are expected to increase from 3.5 million in 2007 to 25 million in 2012

    • Penetration of TV households is expected to increase from 59% in 2007 to 62% in 2012 Penetration of TV households is expected to increase from 59% in 2007 to 62% in 2012

    • Penetration of Pay TV households is expected to increase from 64% in 2007 to 87% in2012

    • Penetration of Cable TV households is expected to increase from 61% in 2007 to 68% in 2012

    • Penetration of DTH households is expected to increase from 3% in 2007 to 19% in 2012

    • Terrestrial transmission covers nearly 92% of India's population for TV and 100% for Radio

    • Nearly 200 TV channels are beaming signals over the Indian sub-continent through 7,500 cable networks

    • DTH is set to sweep the Indian market with Doordarshan's DTH, Zee's Dish TV, Tata-Sky, Sun TV, Reliance’s Big TV and Bharati’s Airtel

    • More than 161 FM transmitters have been installed by Prasar Bharati, national broadcaster for radio and TV in India, in important cities and another 120 are in different stages of implementation. Currently, Prasar Bharati has 361 transmitters in service including 146 medium wave, 54 short wave and 161 FM

    • In private FM, 21 stations have been made operational in Phase 1 and another 245 stations spread over 91 cities are being set up in Phase II.

    • The present primary coverage of FM is 24% by area and 35% by population. The primary coverage of FM and medium wave is 92% by area and 99% by population

    • In DRM, an existing 250 KW short wave transmitter has been upgraded to DRM mode and experimental service in DRM taken up on SW and MW. In the 11th Plan, regional short wave transmitters are proposed to be replaced by DRM transmitters

    • DVB-H service on mobile handheld devices with DVB-H compatibility has been started by Doordarshan with a bouquet of 8 channels

    IMPORT FACILITY FOR FOREIGN COMPANIES
    Foreign exhibitors desirous of bringing goods into India for the purpose of display in the EXPO may do so under ATA Carnet without payment of duty. Facility for importing goods into India under ATA Carnet is available only to foreign companies who have paid the participation fee in foreign currency. This facility is not available to dealers, distributors or agents of foreign companies in India.
