The Broadcast Engineering Society (India) encourages the developments in the field of broadcasting.
The following 12 awards are given by the Society every year. Out of these, 9 awards are given in the inaugural function of the BES EXPO and 3 awards of Public Service Broadcasting are given on 12th November on the occasion of Public Service Broadcasting Day.

These awards are:
Mukul N. Trivedi Award
 

This award has been instituted by Mr. N.K.Trivedi, former Engineer-in-Chief All India Radio, in the memory of his son, late Mr. Mukul N. Trivedi, who passed away in 2001.
This award is for Rs. 1000 for which a suitable corpus amount has been placed at the disposal of the BES(I) by the donor.

The award is given for the best Technical innovation in the engineering field of All India Radio and Doordarshan in every calendar year.
 
Mrs. Jayalakshmi Panchakesan Award
 

This award is an outcome of a donation made to the Society by late Mr. A.M.Thiyagarajan, former Engineer-in-Chief All India Radio, on behalf of Mathurambal Education Trust Chennai.
It is given annually to a member or a team of BES member(s) for having contributed the best paper/work in the field of antenna and propagation related to broadcasting.

The award carries a citation and a cash prize of Rs. 1000.
 
Prof. Sethuraman Award
 

This award is an outcome of a donation made to the Society by Mr. P.K.Subramanian, former Chief Engineer All India radio and Doordarshan, Chennai.
It is given annually to a member or a team of BES member(s) for having made outstanding contribution in the field of TV broadcasting.

The award carries a citation and a cash prize of Rs. 1000.
 
D. V. Nirmal & Mangal Sain Award
 

This award is an outcome of a donation made to the Society by D.V.Niram and Mangal Sain Trust.
It is given annually to a person who is a member of BES (I), for outstanding contribution in the field of broadcast R&D during the last five years.

The award carries a citation and a cash prize of Rs. 2000.
 
EDI Award
 

This award is an outcome of a donation made to the Society by late Mr. H.L.Chopra, former Deputy Chief Engineer All India Radio, on behalf of EDI Group of Electronic Industries, New Delhi.
It is given annually to a member or a team of BES member(s) for making a significant contribution in any area related to art, science or technology of Radio and TV Broadcasting in India.

The award carries a citation and a cash prize of Rs. 1000.
 
V. P. Nanda Award
 

This award is an outcome of a donation made to the Society by Mr. V.P.Nanda, father of Mr. Pradeep Nanda of M/s N.G.Electronics, New Delhi.
It is given annually to a member or a team of BES member(s) for making a outstanding contribution in the field of Satellite and Cable TV network.
The award carries a citation and a cash prize of Rs. 1000.

 
   
Dr. Vassumal Hazarimal Merani Award
 

This award has been instituted by Mr. C.V. Merani, a life fellow of BES(I) in the memory of his father late Dr. Vasumal Hazarimal Merani. This award shall be given for the best technical innovative work in the field of digital technology related to broadcasting.

The award carries a citation and a cash prize of Rs. 1000.
 
 
Padmavati Ganesan Award
 

This award has been instituted by Mr. N.S. Ganesan, Engineer-in-Chief, Doordarshan & immediate past president of BES(I) in the memory of his late daughter - Padmavati Ganesan. This award is for outstanding work in Broadcasting.
The award carries a citation and a cash prize of Rs. 1000.

 
 
Life Time Achievement Award
 

This award has been instituted by Broadcast Engineering Society (India) to recognize the outstanding work carried out by it's members in the field of broadcasting and in promoting the activities of the Society.

 
 
Public Service Broadcasting Awards
 

Effective and quality Public Service Broadcasting is a crucial adjunct to informing, educating and empowering civil society. There is a need to create a public culture through the airwaves that is plural and equitable in its representation. With a mission to strengthen the visual/Radio arts community by inspiring, promoting, and supporting creativity, BES (I) has instituted 3 awards, which are being dedicated to Public Service Broadcasting initiatives in India.
The winner team(s) receives a cash award of Rs. 10,000 and a trophy.

 

Prof. Sethuraman Award

i. BES PSB AWARD - RADIO
This award is for the best Radio Programme/ efforts in field of PSB, which are responsive to the public and have the potential to create an impact.
This Award is given to a team of engineers, programmers & newscasters etc.

ii. BES PSB AWARD - TV
This award is for the best TV programme/ efforts in field of PSB, which are responsive to the public and have the potential to create an impact.
This Award is given to a team of engineers, programmers & newscasters etc.

iii. BES PSB AWARD - News Channels
This award is for the news capsules which may justify the efforts made by respective channel(s) for its initiatives and awareness among the public.
